Twenty years ago, Terre Blanche in northern Haiti was a dry, underserved place with no potable water, electricity, education, or health care. Locals doubted things could change, but with faith, Haiti Foundation of Hope founders, Pastor Delamy, his wife Elvire, Joe and Linda Markee, dreamed big after the 2004 flood.

By 2007, the Clinic of Hope opened as a small dispensary. A 2008 survey identified key needs: maternal care, infant mortality reduction and malnutrition. Annual medical conferences began in 2011, growing from 30 to over 250 participants by 2019, filling a vital gap in continuing medical education. Additionally, HFH medical teams introduced didactic teaching sessions with the Haitian personnel following each clinic day.
The Haitian Ministry of Health took notice as the clinic expanded to a 24/7 clinic. In 2013, an HIV clinic opened, followed by tuberculosis treatment in 2016 – both with government-supported staff. The Clinic of Hope’s excellent reputation is known at Haiti’s highest levels, especially for the Markee Maternity Center.
Recent milestones include Dr. Montumaire becoming the medical director, hosting nursing students for practical training, launching weekly staff teaching sessions and establishing patient education clubs. In 2026, the Haitian Ministry of Health designated the Clinic of Hope as a residency training site for Haitian doctors and nurses.

We stand in awe of God’s work in Terre Blanche and thank all partners for their faithful support. Together, we continue to dream big and bring hope to this community.
