The familiar saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words,” has never been more meaningful to me than when I saw a group of photos that Pastor Delamy recently sent to Haiti Foundation of Hope board members.
The photos are simple: small children, dressed in their uniforms, eating lunch in the school cafeteria in Terre Blanche. But they tell a story far richer than just a lunchtime meal.
Here are a few things I see when I look at these photos:
- God’s amazing love and grace poured out on the children and families in Terre Blanche.
- Hope for a future in a place where, not so many years ago, there was no hope.
- The beginning of generational change.
- Educated children who will become Haiti’s future leaders.
- Healthy children with full bellies.
- Employment for the school’s staff members.
- The bravery of those who face danger to find and purchase the food.
- School uniforms sewn by women trained in the Women’s Trade School.
- Love for the poorest of the poor.
- The generosity of God’s people, faithfully providing prayer and financial support.
- The strength, resilience and independence of the Haitian people.
- The hands of Jesus at work.
These are just a few of the things that come to mind. There is so much more to this story than any photo could ever capture.
It is an incredible blessing to be part of God’s amazing, ongoing work in Haiti. Thank you for your faithful support and the part you have played in making these stories possible. You are part of what God is doing and we are deeply grateful!
