Harold made his first trip to Haiti in 1996. He went by himself and worked for two weeks with a Haitian physician providing pediatric care at Hopital Sainte Croix (HSC) in Leogane. It was an invaluable experience as he witnessed the faith and the strength of his brothers and sisters in Haiti. However, he returned home feeling guilty and overwhelmed regarding living conditions in Haiti. His wife reminded him that he could return to Haiti.
In 1997, his church started sponsoring annual mission teams to HSC. On one of these trips, he briefly met Pastor Delamy. In 1998, his team worked with Linda and Joe Markee for one week. Linda and Joe have been wonderful mentors ever since and invited him to join a team to Terre Blanche in 2000. Harold says it has been a true blessing to see the faithful leadership of Pastor Delamy and Elvire and the community pride and investment in their church, school, clinic and community health program. He is very grateful for the people of Terre Blanche who have treated him like family and he looks forward to serving on the HFH Board.
