We are excited to share a milestone in our ongoing efforts to support HFH’s Clinic of Hope and schools. We have contracted with a non-profit group called Brighten Haiti to build and install a new robust solar power system. This system will provide clean, reliable electricity to the medical clinic and schools.
The clinic is currently relying on diesel generators for electrical power that is both expensive and environmentally unsustainable. This new solar installation will change everything.
The medical clinic will be able to power essential medical equipment, maintain refrigeration for vaccines and medications, and provide lighting – enabling safe round-the-clock care without the constant concern of exhausting scarce diesel fuel supplies.
For students, this means well-lit classrooms equipped with fans, and for teachers, the ability to use educational tools like computers and projectors. Excitedly, this also opens the door for an official computer lab – something that was previously out of reach. (More on that soon.)
Beyond the immediate benefits, this solar project represents a long-term investment in sustainability, education, and health. Solar energy drastically reduces operating costs and environmental impact, freeing up more resources for patient care and student success.
All the preplanning is done. The container with all the equipment ships in June. The earliest installation start date would be mid-July with a possible completion date of mid-September. We will keep you posted on this project.
