This is part three in a series sharing the Core Values that guide the decisions and work of Haiti Foundation of Hope.

Local Ownership and Initiative – 3rd Core Value

“Our work is led by local Haitian leaders. We rely on local expertise and resources before bringing in outside assets.”

In 2019 we sent our last team to help work in a large-scale clinical setting. Although subsequent medical teams had been planned, the widespread violence throughout the country forced an abrupt stop to HFH teams.

Through the guidance of Pastor Delamy and strong community leadership, the work established by Haiti Foundation of Hope and its supporters continues to serve the local communities.

When available and qualified, a local citizen would always be the first choice for a position in the clinic or schools, as well as in construction work. This not only helps a local family support themselves, but also helps build the community.

Today, the clinic remains open and available for emergency care 24/7. The schools of Terre Blanche remain one of the few schools open nationwide. This likely would not be possible without the hard-working individuals in and around Terre Blanche.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  Galatians 6:9
