While it’s not all the about numbers; it is exciting to be sending medical team numbers 49 and 50 in the next two months. For the last 12 years HFH has been working alongside our partners to address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the people in rural communities of northern Haiti.
The first Haiti Foundation of Hope medical team traveled to Haiti in February 2006. At that time, there was no permanent clinic in the area. Since then, the Clinic of Hope was built in Terre Blanche, providing year-round medical care from Haitian staff. This March, the 50th volunteer medical team will work alongside the staff at the clinic.
In addition to a week-long medical clinic, the February team will host the 8th annual medical conference with medical professionals coming from all over northern Haiti. Presenting at the conference are three team members and two Haitians.
The March team will have both a medical clinic and an eye clinic with three ophthalmologists providing care. At the end of the week a Haitian ophthalmologist from Port-au-Prince will come with his team to provide sight-giving cataract surgery.
We are thankful to all those who make HFH medical teams successful: team members, those who help send team members, and our in-country partners.
Team number 51 will be this June. And there will be more to come, by the grace of God.
