This is the only road into Dubedou, one of the villages where Haiti Foundation of Hope works.
Dubedou has a church, elementary school and community well. There are no grocery stores, medical clinics or pharmacies.
Community health volunteers, living in Dubedou, are trusted teachers to their neighbors. They help improve child and maternal health as they share information with their neighbors and direct them to resources.
The church hosts a mother’s club. Young mothers learn about good nutrition for their children’s health and growth. They learn good hygiene habits like washing hands, even though the only water source is a community well.
Having volunteers, who live and work in this village, is an important piece in overcoming the challenges of roads and transportation.
