Saturday evening, August 17, HFH board members and others gathered, via Zoom, to pray for Haiti. The time of prayer was filled with acknowledging God and asking Him to move in mighty ways in this broken world.

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.  Psalm 31:24

When Pastor Delamy heard that we would be gathering to pray he sent these words for all who are praying for Haiti:

Dear Precious Friends / Brothers and Sisters in Christ, What you are doing today is one of the most powerful actions. May God bless you richly! Thank you very much for all. In the Master’s love, Your brother in Christ, Delamy

Susan Paynter, HFH board member, wrote this prayer for Haiti:

Father God, we acknowledge that the current events in Haiti are no surprise to you and we have seen so many, many times in the past when you have shown yourself sufficient and able to carry the work of the Clinic of Hope forward despite setbacks. You are continuing to provide on behalf of the community of Terre Blanche for future needs, so we know your work is not done! You blessed two mothers with new little ones this week in the midst of crisis and we are grateful.

Locked doors and high walls of all kinds have never stopped your work. Man’s attempts to thwart the power of God do not succeed.

We are asking as a community of believers, whose hearts are joined with yours, for the safety of the faithful workers in Terre Blanche and the patients who need the attention they can give. Provide safe passage, courageous hearts, fuel to make their journeys, and food and medical supplies to last throughout the needs of the coming days. Give Godly wisdom and encouragement to Pastor Delamy, Elvire and all the staff as they navigate this crisis. Settle the core of all of our faith with untroubled spirits and thankfulness for your unrecognized blessings.  We’re relying on your power and strength and provision to thwart the enemy at every turn. In Christ’s name we pray.

Katie Thom, HFH board president, wrote these words of encouragement and hope:

Dear Pastor Delamy, Elvire, COH staff and friends in Terre Blanche,

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.  John 16:33

I read this passage yesterday, Pastor Delamy, and have been proclaiming this for us all. In light of the worsening situation that you communicated to Mom Linda, I wanted to share with you my prayers from this passage. Please share with those who would be encouraged by it.

Two things stand out to me from this passage.

The first is that the ‘peace’ that Jesus leaves with the disciples was the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Heavenly Father and Jesus for leaving your Holy Spirit with us. Increase our senses to be able to see, hear and feel Your work in our midst. Would you work miraculously now in the hearts and minds of your people in Haiti, all the way from the teenager forced into gangs to the high level politicians? I pray that they would they turn from their evil ways and bow to you.

The second is that He has overcome! It is already done…on the cross, forever and always. I pray that this incredible truth gives each of you (and us) courage to face the tribulations of the moments we are in. Jesus, your body broken and your blood shed for us is the ransom for all the evil that has been done, is being done and will be done. Thank you for paying the price. And THANK YOU for rising from the dead to proclaim Your victory over the enemy. May we walk with the courage of those who know their loving Father has already overcome.

We are praying continually with you, interceding through the Holy Spirit, for His kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven.

Your sister, Katie

May the words shared here encourage you to continue to pray for those in Haiti to be strong and take heart and hope in the Lord.
