It seems like we’ve been concerned about high blood pressure in patients for as long as I’ve been going to Haiti.
A new doctor, Dr. Emmanuel Mercier, joined the Clinic of Hope in June. He, too, has become concerned because he thinks over 60 percent of the patients coming to the Clinic of Hope have high blood pressure. He decided to do something about it.
Dr. Emmanuel arranged a teaching session for the patients, as well as the community health volunteers, to learn about high blood pressure. Using a power point presentation, he explained what happens to the body when a person has high blood pressure.
The teaching session was well attended and many questions were asked and answered.
We thank God for sending this concerned and compassionate doctor to the Clinic of Hope.
